Green Day at City Hall

Civic Centre

The 8th Annual Civic Centre Greens Days event is taking place Thursday, June 11, 2015.

The Student Green Initiatives Committee, formerly known as the Green Team, is comprised of 11 City of Sault Ste. Marie summer students, assisted by Ward 1 Councillor Steve Butland and Environmental Initiatives Coordinator Madison Zuppa. In keeping with greening the Civic Centre grounds, this year’s project is a hydrangea garden.

The dedication ceremony for the garden will take place Thursday, June 11 at 10 a.m. near the international flag display at the Civic Centre. Following the ceremony, a guest speaker from the Invasive Species Centre will make a presentation near the water fountain.

The Green Days initiative will coincide with a City Jean Day event. For a $3 donation, participants can enjoy a coffee break with a chance to win a FitBit. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity. Special thanks to St. Joseph Coffee Roasters and Walmart for their generous donations.
2015 Student Green Initiatives Committee members include:

Laura Schug, Lucas Buffone, Adam Devon, Tianna Palumbo, Wil Bell, Toni Marie Fera, Nadia Peres, Jenna Christian, David Toppan, Deandra Gagnon, and Matt Novello
