It’s Local Food Week!

Love Your Local says Sault Ste. Marie’s newest farmers market, Mill Market. This week, all across Ontario, local foodies are celebrating the local food movement in their respective communities. Ontario’s 37,000 farm families work hard to bring us the highest quality and greatest variety in fresh produce, meat, eggs, dairy and greenhouse vegetables and it’s our job as consumers to say  “thank you” by buying local.

The Buy Local movement is all about purchasing nutritious foods that taste good and support the local food system. Environmentally friendly grocery shopping starts with you. This week and throughout the year, especially in the Spring and Summer, think about where you’re buying your food.

Your local farmers market, Mill Market, is the best place to start. You’ll meet a variety of food vendors who want to share their love of farming, fishing, and cooking with you. The foods they sell and prepare are full of nutrients to fuel you and your family. Local producers and food vendors are grateful to local residents for buying them!

Help us Celebrate Local Food Week at Mill Market with Wednesday’s Farmers Market from 2pm-7pm; Saturday’s Farmers Market and Special Event with One Year Anniversary and Butter Tart Competition from 8am – 2pm and at The Mill Flea Market on Sunday June 7th from 11am – 3pm.

Mill Market is conveniently located right off the Hub Trail at 35 Canal Drive, just steps away from the Ontario locks and the scenic St. Mary’s River waterfront. Grown, raised or crafted by Northern Ontario’s farmers, ranchers, fishermen, artists and artisans; Mill Market brings the best of our lakes, fields and forests to the heart of the historic Canal District in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.
