The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club (OHL) and Sovereign Communications are pleased to announce that the two parties have extended their radio partnership an additional three years.
Earlier today both organizations confirmed that Rock 101 radio (101.3 FM) will remain the exclusive radio outlet and home for all 68 regular season and playoff games for Soo Greyhounds Hockey in a deal that extends through to, and including, the 2017-18 Ontario Hockey League season.
Sovereign Communications locally owns five other station’s including 99.5 YES FM, Country 105, Oldies 93.9, ESPN 1400 and WSOO 1230.
Bill Gleich, President/CEO of Sovereign Communications, Rock 101’s parent company, said;
“We’re absolutely delighted to continue our long time relationship with the Greyhounds. The Hounds are a very important part of Sault Ontario and we’re proud to be the voice of the team for our listeners and advertisers. Everyone at Rock 101 is really looking forward to being right in the middle of the excitement for another three years.”

Set to enter his 11th season as the “Voice of the Hounds”, Gerry Liscumb Jr. concluded with;
“This partnership began six seasons ago and during that time I have seen the level of commitment to excellence that I can’t describe. Bill, Mark, Theresa and the entire staff at Sovereign have helped me grow and our broadcast grow. I’m excited to have the ability to continue to work with them.”
The Hounds will hit the airwaves for the first time of the 2015-16 season with their home opener set for Friday, September 25 versus the Windsor Spitfires.
