(MACDONALD, MEREDITH & ABERDEEN ADDITIONAL, ON) – On June 15, 2015 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a mischief incident. Several mailboxes in the 100 block of Driftwood Drive had mail removed and opened.

(WAWA, ON) – On Monday June 15, 2015, at approximately 12:10 a.m. officers from the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had occasion to stop a grey pick up truck for speeding on Highway 17 near the junction of Highway 101 in the McMurray Township.

Investigation revealed that the male driver’s ability to drive was impaired by drugs.

As a result Tarin RICHARDSON (19) of Maple Ridge British Columbia was charged with the following offences:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by drugs – motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

A 90-day driver’s licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa on August 10, 2015.

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On June 1 2015, at 2:45 a.m. officers from the Blind River detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a car for a traffic violation on Causley St in Blind River.  As a result of the stop and their investigation officers located an unloaded 20 gauge rifle and ammunition in the vehicle.  Officers also located a small amount of a controlled substance.  The three occupants were removed from the vehicle and arrested.

Charged is Kevin ALMEIDA, 19 years of age from Toronto.  He is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 91(1) Criminal Code
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, section 94 Criminal  Code
  • Careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) Criminal Code

A 17 year old male from Toronto who can’t be named is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2) Controlled Drug and Substance Act
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 91(1) Criminal Code
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, section 94 Criminal Code
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance, section 145(3) Criminal Code (3 counts)

A 17 year old male from Toronto who can’t be named is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 91(1) Criminal Code
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, section 94 Criminal Code
  • Careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) Criminal Code

All three males were held in custody and attended Sault Ste Marie for a bail hearing.
