February 28, 1929 – June 20, 2015 – William (Bill), dearly loved husband of Margaret (Peggy), for 61 years died peacefully surrounded by family at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in his 87th year.
Father of Cynthia Rattle of Ottawa, Kathryn Campbell (Glenn) of Toronto, Robert Rattle (Debbie) of Sault Ste. Marie and Elizabeth Clarke (Grenville) of Ottawa. Proud Grandfather of 6 grandchildren – Alexander and Emma Campbell, Benjamin and Christopher Rattle and Jenson and Nicholas Clarke. Predeceased by his parents William Frederick Rattle DDS MC (1st WW), Bertha Isabel and step mother Jessie McTavish. Brother of the late Lorna Hassell (Jack), and brother-in-law of Robert and Ruth Black and the late Howard and Edie Black. Uncle of James Hassell (Anne), the late Douglas Hassell (Martha), Margaret Snyder (Stuart), Tom Black, Gary Black (Lisa) and Brenda and Marnie Black.
Born and raised in Toronto, Bill began his 34 year teaching career in Sault Ste. Marie where he met his lovely wife Peggy. Bill’s career took him to secondary schools in both Toronto and Sault Ste. Marie where he retired in 1986 after 20 years at Sir James Dunn Collegiate. Bill loved wood working as a hobby and built many exquisite treasures for his family.
Friends may call at Willowgrove United Church on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Funeral service to follow at 11:30 am. Interment, Aberdeen Cemetery.
