Summer Football Kicks Off This Weekend

Well, actually the football season already has started with the Sabrecats Varsity and Juniors having played two out of town games already and the Sault Steelers were also on the road for their season opener, but this coming Saturday will be the kick off for home games for all three teams and not to forget the Sault Amateur Football Association will be playing the first game out of the four scheduled games on Saturday with all games being played at Superior Heights.

The SAFA will take to the field for the first game at 9:00 am. A reply to an email sent has not been received as to which one of the three divisions of the SAFA  will be playing and whether or not it an exhibition game as the SAFA regular season schedule doesn’t start until June 14th.

For games two and three, Sault Sabrecats Juniors will take to the field first at 12:00 pm and then the Varsity team at 3:00 pm for game number three. Both the Juniors and Varsity teamm will go up against the Etobicoke Eagles.

The Junior Sabrecats are looking to rebound from two losses where the Hamilton Ironmen JV took down the Sabrecats 29 to 6 on May 23rd and the Brampton Bulldogs JV blanked the Sabrecats 46 to 0 on May 31st.

The Varsity Sabrecats will try to continue their winning streak where the Sabrecats VR took down the Hamilton Ironmen 27 – 8 in week one and shut out the Brampton Bulldogs 31 – 0 in week two.

The Sault Steelers, coming off a loss against the GTA All-Stars will play their second game of the season when they look to make a rebound against the Sudbury  Spartans with game time at 6:00 pm.
