West Zone Track & Field

The Our Lady of Lourdes Lions captured the team title in the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) West Zone track and field meet on Wednesday at the Joe Forman Track. The Lions won six of the eight divisions to collect 186 points. Second place went to Holy Family while St. Ann finished third.

Individually, one new HSCDSB record was established when Elliot Anderson from St. Bernadette cleared 1.27 metres in the Atom Boys high jump.

In Bantam Boys, Nicholas Porco from Holy Family captured three gold medals winning the 100 and 200 metres and the long jump. In Bantam Girls, Jayme Meser from St. Ann equaled that performance winning the 100, 200 and long jump.

All student-athletes put in strong performances on a cool, windy day. The top three finishers in all events from the West Zone and East Zone meets are eligible to participate in the HSCDSB Championships on Tuesday, June 16. The competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Jo Forman Track.
