Sault Ste. Marie native, and Greyhounds alumni COLIN MILLER will be bringing the Calder Cup (symbolic of the American Hockey League playoff champions) to Sault Ste. Marie.
Miller and the Monarchs claimed the 2015 Championship on June 13, 2015, in Game 5 over the Utica Comets.
“I want to give the community the opportunity to enjoy the Calder Cup. I am looking forward to the day and being able to celebrate the moment with the Greyhounds organization and the City of Sault Ste. Marie” said Miller.
Miller, who is coming off his 2nd season with the Manchester Monarchs, will be present along with the Cup on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5TH at the Essar Centre from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This past season in Manchester, the 22 year-old defenceman had 19 goals and 33 assists (52 points) in 70 regular season games played before adding 10 points in 19 post-season games.
Locally, Miller captained the Hounds during his 3rd and final season with the Greyhounds (2012-13) where he had a career season notching 20 goals and 35 points, good for 55 points.
He was later named the recipient of the Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy by the OHL, presented to an OHL team captain that best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice with a passion and dedication to the game of hockey and his community that Mickey demonstrated.
