Fire Destroys Structure

On July 26, 2015 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a 911 call was received by Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Echo Bay Fire Department regarding a fire in the 200 block of Cottage Road.

While Police and Fire were on their way to respond, local cottagers quickly formed a bucket line retrieving water from McCarroll Lake in an effort to contain the fire and prevent further damage to the property and other cottages until emergency services arrived.

A sauna out building adjacent to a camp was destroyed. There was no damage to any other buildings.
No injuries were reported and no one was at this location at the time of the fire.
