Jesse Jakomait finished the Colorado Trail Race at 1:04 am Colorado Time (3:04 am Sault time) July 31, 2015 shattering the old record by almost 8 hours for the Durango to Denver course.
As we told you a few days ago, the Sault Ste. Marie native is competing in the race for a fifth straight year.
The Colorado Trail Race is over 550 miles (885 km) long reaching elevations of 13,200 feet and is rugged back country in the Rocky Mountains on the Continental Divide. You are self sufficient during the race (for food, water, etc) and use a mountain bike.
His total time was 3 days 20 hours and 16 minutes for 562 miles – 904 kilometres. The previous record was 4 days 4 hours 7 minutes held by Jefe Branham (who is racing this year also).
His total stop time for the duration of the event was 7 hours and 59 minutes.
