MCCOY, John “Jocko”


John "Jocko" McCoy(June 20, 1932 – July 25, 2015) Died peacefully on July 25, 2015 at the age of 83 years at Golden Birches Terrace where he spent the latter years of his life.

Father of Charmaine Richer (Alex) of Webbwood, Gloria (Terry) of Victoria Harbour, ON and Roxane (Ron) of Blind River. Predeceased by his sons Roland (July 25, 2008) and Patrick (March 23, 2009). Dear grandfather to Meagan Richer (Chris), Jason Fortin, Terri-Lynn Chiblow (Joshua) and step-grandfather to Evan Redsky. Great-grandchildren include: Leif Eadie, Selena and Shoni Carpenter. Son of Robert McCoy and Blanche Cyr of Blind River. Dear brother of Jacqueline Kennedy (John-predeceased) of Elliot Lake. Predeceased by siblings: Robert (Joy), Napoleon (Simone), Xavier (Edna), George (Sheila), Antoine Sr. (Delisca) and Helene Laderoute (George).

Jocko was an avid and talented golfer having made many holes in one at various golf courses in the area. He spent many hours at the Huron Pines Golf & Country Club honing his skill and enjoying the camaraderie. In his earlier years Jocko also enjoyed hockey, baseball, curling and excelled at challenges the sports presented. Like his sons, Jocko was a dire Habs fan to the end.

A celebration of Jocko’s life will be held on Saturday, September 12th at the Legion Hall starting at 4:00 p.m. Put on your favourite hockey jersey & come share memorable stories with friends.
