It was a great day in Sault Ste. Marie Saturday, as the Smoke’s Poutinerie World Famous Great Canadian Cross Country Plaid Gravy Train Fries Curd & Gravy Weird Wild and Wacky Poutine Eating Tour made it’s stop in Sault Ste. Marie.
From noon to 1:30pm Smoke’s was giving out free poutine and hosting a variety of street performing acts as part of a cross country tour to find Canada’s fastest poutine eaters. Poutine enthusiasts in the Sault could compete to score the fastest time in Sault Ste. Marie, to win the chance to go to a poutine eating championship in Toronto later this year.
The time to qualify was 24.59 seconds, with the fastest time in town coming in at 20 seconds.
The tour started in Dartmouth on July 13th and is finishing in Vancouver on the 6th of August.
A variety of other challenges were available to those looking to win some Smoke’s Poutinerie swag, such as the “Gravy Chug” and a curd eating challenge as well.
Mike the Knife, a street performer, was travelling with the group and did a variety of acts involving throwing knives, balancing circular saws, and balancing a lawnmower on his chin for viewers to throw food in to.
