Employees at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming head office in Sault Ste. Marie have voted in a union after many failed attempts previously.
Employees voted Thursday in an Ontario Labour Relations Board vote to decide whether to become unionized with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
Preliminary numbers show that 175 votes were cast in favour of union protection. About 400 employees voted.
The latest move comes at a crucial time for OLG staff as the company wide modernization plan continues to unfold. It is reported that once complete, the modernization plan could reduce staff by up to 90 percent.
