Just after 9 am this morning City Police along with paramedics and firefighters from Sault Fire Services attended on Peoples Road in the area of Churchill Avenue for a single motor collision.
A pickup truck was travelling northbound on Peoples Road when it crossed several lanes of traffic and came to a stop after crashing into a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle was in medical distress and was transported to Sault Area Hospital.
At this time both northbound lanes on Peoples Road have been reopened and it is expected that the southbound lanes on Peoples Road will be opened shortly. City Police are no longer on scene; however crews working on replacing the utility pole have the south bound curb lane closed.
The investigation is continuing.
Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into this single motor vehicle collision.
At this time both northbound lanes of Peoples Road have been opened. Southbound traffic is still being re-routed to Churchill Avenue.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will provide a further update once the road has been completely reopened.
Shortly after 9 am this morning officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at the intersection of Peoples Road at Second Line East for a single motor vehicle collision with injuries.
Please note that the intersection will be closed for several hours to allow officers from Traffic Services, Patrol Services and the Forensic Unit to complete their investigation.
Traffic southbound on Peoples Road will be re-routed to Churchill Avenue. No northbound traffic will be allowed on Peoples Road at Second Line East.
Citizens are asked to avoid the area. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will advise when the road is open.
