Recently the SUFA Soccer Academy sent two teams to Detroit for the “Soccer-In-The-Sand” tournament. This was a first of its kind competition for any soccer teams from the Sault.

Both teams did very well, especially adjusting to the new conditions (playing barefoot and on sand). They improved in each game and finished the tournament, impatient to come back next year. There was a U9 team who had to compete and age group higher, as did the U16
team. It was a carnival like atmosphere on the beach in south Detroit, with music, and a tent village for the participating teams.

SUFA is a soccer program dedicated to training young soccer players and offering competitive soccer experiences. We choose competition that develops children from young as 4 year old to high school aged players. Competition like Beach Soccer, “3 on 3” and Futsal (5-
a-side hard court soccer) are excellent at developing top skills and quick thinking. The two top players in the world (Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo) credit their success to those types of training and competition.

Next up in competition for the Academy, is Petoskey (Autumn Blast) on September 12/13th.
Three teams (U10 boys, U11 girls and U15 girls) are being sent and interested parents should
