T-Birds Sign Gordon

Soo Thunderbirds

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they’ve signed 1997 birth year goaltender Brandon Gordon.

Gordon, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, who stands 5’10 and 170 lbs had 19 wins, 10 losses, 2 ties along with 2.10 goals against average and a .910 save percentage last season with the Soo Indians midget AAA club.

“Brandon is a player who has a lot of upside and fits the mold of what we are looking for in a Soo Thunderbird,” said T-Birds general manager Jamie Henderson. “He is a real character young man who is willing to work hard to earn the trust of the coaches and his teammates.”

Brandon was also a member of the 2012-2013 Soo Thunder minor midget AAA club, who played with current T-Birds Mario Culina, Andrew Barbeau, Caleb Boman, Matt Caruso and graduates Nick Sicoly and Owen Headrick.

Matt had graduated from Sault College in the General Arts and Sciences program in 2011 and has been working in the sports field ever since. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native has worked as an Athletics Assistant in the Sault College Athletics Department during his final year of school in 2011. After graduating, Stefano worked for two years at the George Leach Centre from 2011-2013 for the Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Basketball Games as an Athletics Assistant. From 2013 on, Stefano has been working as the Soo Thunderbirds communications person and has also been volunteering with Shaw TV Sault Ste. Marie since 2014, doing Soo Thunderbirds TV Segments.
