Summer may be coming to an end but with the beautiful fall weather we’re experiencing, Drummond Island’s 7th Annual Fall on the Island Festival is gearing up for three days of fun, games, entertainment and plenty of great eats! The festival starts on Friday October 9th and runs through to Sunday October 11th.
Friday, October 9th
Piano Wars! gets the party started with their dueling pianos from 6:00 – 10:00 pm. The show includes sing-alongs, audience participation, props and DJ dance music. Early Bird Specials are being served all over the Island or have fried chicken dinner in the Big Tent from Wazz’s Party Plus and the Drummond Island Homemaker’s dessert bar. A full bar will also be available for purchase starting at 5:30 p.m. Entrance to the tent on Friday is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for kids six to 18 and free for kids five and under.
At this year’s Drummond Island Golf Club Fall on the Island Festival Golf Tournament, participants have a chance to win a 2015 Boston Whaler, motor and trailer in the hole-in-one contest. In addition, this nine hole, four-person scramble is awarding cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams and three auxiliary prizes ($500 Visa card, Kindle Fire and Nike irons) for the other par three holes. Saturday, October 10th
The Taste of Drummond’s pirate theme is as fun as the food is delicious! This year’s Taste showcases cuisine from Bayside Dining, C Cup Cakes, Esther’s Authentic Mexican Cuisine, Moose Lodge, Pins Bar & Grille, The Northwood Restaurant & Bar, Shipwreck Grille and Sune’s Grocery. Lily’s Seafood & Micro Brewery from Royal Oak keeps the beer flowing with nine distinct micro brews named after Drummond Island destinations. A full bar is also available for purchase. Listen to live music all day from Ashley Stefanski, The Morton Brothers, Gary & Tim VanAlstine, Lisa White & Friends and DJ Chris Taylor. There will be 30 plus Artisan Vendors from across Michigan showcasing a variety of unique goods and delicious offerings including The Lord of the Gourd’s carving demonstrations, a 5K Walk/Run, strolling entertainment by Tommy Tropic, a fun-filled one-man-show with juggling, uni-cycling, magic and physical comedy, face painting and a giant bounce house.
Our main event this year is Michael Beans Musical Pirate Show! This unique and lively show is aptly named “Happy Arrr” – a performance that turns an ordinary day into a social gathering complete with stories, jokes, sin-a-longs, audience interaction and musical participation!
New this year is a Corn Hole Tournament! Sign up online for his two-person, double-elimination competition (entry fee is $50 per team and limited to 32 teams) by September 30th. Cash prizes for winning teams along with prizes for Best Dressed Team, Best Fall Festival Theme, and Most Funny. Please note that your entry fee does NOT include your Fall Festival gate fee which must be purchased separately to participate or watch.
Saturday’s Festival admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids six-18, and five and under are free. Taste tickets must be purchased for all food and beverage and tournaments and race have entry fees.
The fun doesn’t end there! Join our annual pub crawl with free bus service after Saturday’s Festival events. The continuous bus loop includes stops at Bayside Lounge, Chuck’s Place, Moose Lodge, Pins Bar & Grille, and The Northwood. Or, take your own vehicle—each bar has a different themed décor and their employees are dressed in wild costumes to match—it is an absolute must see! There is no fee for pub crawl participation.
Sunday, October 11th
Also new this year, Chris Cakes’ Pancakes breakfast show at The Northwood Restaurant & Bar from 9 am – 12 pm. With a dose of humor and some fancy pancake flipping, it’s a one of a kind show that people love to watch while enjoying their delicious pancakes!
