After a scoreless first period between the visiting Timmins Rock and the home team of the Soo Eagles it would take a little less than six minutes into the second frame before the Rock would gain the lead on a goal by Tristan Salesse.
After a hard hit early in the second period Evan Ketner would return to the ice and with a lot of action in front of the Timmin’s net Ketner would tie the game on a power play goal with a little over three minutes left in the period.
The third period would remain scoreless as both goaltenders would stop all shots coming in. Eagles Jack Hickey would stop 11 shots in the period and Logan Ferrington stopped four shots for Timmins.
With the teams playing 4 on 4 scoring chances for both teams were equal in the first overtime period. In the second overtime frame, while playing 3 on 3 Timmins pressed hard getting a total of 10 shots on goal but couldn’t put the puck behind Hickey. Even though the Eagles only had a couple of shots on net they were excellent scoring chances.
Timmins outshot the Soo 54 to 30.
The next game for the Eagles is Saturday, 26 Sep at 7:00 pm when the Elliot Lake Wildcats will make the trip to Pullar Stadium.
