Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2015 surrounded by his loving family singing him “Amazing Grace” as he went home to be with Jesus. He was 64 years old, and passed away at the Sault Area Hospital after an unexpected two-week stay in the ICU.
Loving husband to his wife Eunice, who says “he was the love of my life for 35 and a half years.” Devoted daddy to his daughters Amanda and Katelin. Treasured brother to James, Janine, Lynette, Harold and late brother Hugh. Loving brother-in-law to Edith, Bernie, Paul, Linda, Shirley, Glenn and Fred. “Uncle John” was a beloved uncle and will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
If there’s one thing that people always noticed about John, it was that twinkle he would get in his eyes when he was causing mischief – he loved to tease, and he always had a joke and a smile for those he encountered. A dairy farmer all his life, he was well respected and loved in the community as a godly man of integrity who highly valued his relationship with Jesus and his close ties with family.
Visitation will be held from 10a.m. to 11:30a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church, scent free please, with a celebration of life to follow at 11:30a.m. Rev. Adrian Collins officiating. Interment Mountain Maple Grove Cemetery on St. Joseph Island.
Memorial contributions to Teen Challenge North or Mercy Ships would be appreciated.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the ICU care team at the Sault Area Hospital for their incredible care of John.
