The Liberal Party of Canada’s plan to increase spending on infrastructure is a great recipe to resolve the economic stagnation the country is facing. Sault Ste. Marie and area is as well positioned as any place to capitalize on this investment.
“Justin Trudeau has shown that he has a plan for battling the tough economic times our country is facing”, said Terry Sheehan, Liberal Candidate for Sault Ste. Marie. “As a city councilor for the last 10 plus years I am intimately aware of the challenges our community and surrounding area has with aging infrastructure. Municipal councils across our area would welcome a Federal partner willing to work with them to address these vital components of our communities.”
The Liberal Party is prepared to re-establish partnerships with provinces, cities and townships that have long been neglected by Stephen Harper’s Conservative government.
This infrastructure spending will also be a boost to the economic engine of Sault Ste. Marie.
“Our number one employer is a steel manufacturer; Essar stands to benefit from the infrastructure investment we are committed to as the steel they produce can be used in infrastructure projects. That means job security and job opportunity for workers in Sault Ste. Marie,” says Sheehan. “The NDP do not have a plan for growth, they have been unrealistically touting that they will balance the budget in six months, the current government hasn’t in years. It is irresponsible for NDP to say they will, without further harming the economy of our country and in turn our city”.
