Looking to Keep Active and Healthy During the Winter Months?

Mixed Volleyball League

SaultOnline received the following invitation to pass along from a loyal reader…

Hi, my name is Andrea Cardoso, President on the committee of a new volleyball league starting up in the Sault.

My boyfriend works at Essar, and we only have one vehicle. Due to the lack of accessible public transit for our steelworkers, he has to take the car, leaving me with the public transit. Unfortunately, because of the bus schedules, if i want to get to work for 9am on a saturday, i have to leave my house by 710am.

I decided I could bike faster than that, so now I do. For the past 2-3 months i have been biking 7km to work and 7km home. I realized that with winter creeping up on us, it’s going to completely take over my biking territory. I have lost 25 lbs biking, and i don’t want to gain it all back over the winter, so i came up with an idea of how to keep active and healthy during the winter months.

I am, now, the president of a brand new local volleyball league. We accept males or females between the ages of 19 and 65 (insurance purposes) and will be located at Notre Dame Du Sault at 600 North Street. We will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:45pm to 9:30pm.

It only costs $30.00 per person for the year (October to June), and we still have room for people to join.

I was wondering if you would like to post our information so that people who maybe aren’t a friend of a friend on Facebook could be made knowledgeable about this opportunity to be active and social.

The Facebook group URL is http://www.facebook.com/whowantstojoin and if someone can’t go on Facebook, they can contact me directly at 705-971-7446.

Check out the Community Events Calendar for this and many other events happening in and around the Sault area. Thanks for the note Andrea and we wish you and the league great success and enjoyment!
