Runners take your mark, and get set for Saturday, September 26, 2015. Sault College is excited to partner with Crimson Ridge to run the inaugural 2015 Sault College Cross Country Invitational. This Invitational will be a precursor to the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) Championships hosted in late October. The event will include a College / University Women’s 5km and a College / University Men’s 8km. Athletes will be traveling from all over Ontario to gain a competitive edge for the upcoming championship races. Schools attending include Algoma University and Centennial, Fanshawe, Fleming, Georgian, George Brown, Loyalist, St. Clair, and Sault colleges.
Sault College has been a fierce competitor since its debut into varsity cross country in 2012, where the College has qualified athletes for the national championships in each year of competition. Head Coach, Sherri Smith is no stranger to the realm of competitive running, having an extensive line of success in her biography as both an athlete and an event director. Coach Smith noted, “The Sault College Varsity Cross Country teams welcome the OCAA and University teams to our home course. We anticipate and are prepared for a competitive field in both the men’s and women’s divisions.”
Sault College’s Anna Greve and Daniel Turco are expected to lead the Women’s and Men’s team respectively with returning and new team members rounding out these competitive varsity squads.
Sault College invites the community to Crimson Ridge to watch this competitive event and cheer on their home team. The Women’s race begins at 9AM with the Men’s race to follow at 10AM. Alternatively, if you would like to volunteer at this event or would like more information, please call the Athletics office at Sault College.
