Once upon a time, when convenience chain stores started replacing the family owned corner stores in Sault Ste. Marie, they were known as Mike’s Milk. Then a corporate change brought on a new branding, “Mac’s”. The Mac’s brand owned by Alimentation Couche-Tard with it’s head office in Laval Quebec is now set to retire.
The company owns stores far and wide, from Europe to Canada plus the United States and about 12 other countries. Soon, most stores in North America and Europe will begin to roll out its new name, Circle K. The company will keep its Couche-Tard banner in Quebec.
The change over will come slowly though, the Canadian re-branding is set for May 2017 following its U.S. transition.
The announcement was made ahead of Couche-Tard’s annual meeting for shareholders.
