Just weeks after Essar Steel Algoma announced layoffs there, another major Sault company has announced another round of layoffs for 230 staff.

Tenaris Algoma Tubes announced Wednesday that another round of temporary layoffs are necessary due to production adjustments at the company.

“Tenaris is adjusting the production of its facilities to position the company for sustainable and long-term growth in the Canadian market”  The company said in a news release issued.

The company has been hit hard by falling oil prices and consequential reduction of drilling activity in the oil sector.

The union has been notified of the latest development and the company hopes workers will begin to be recalled in late November.
