Join us for the highly successful Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure taking place this Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion. Registration starts at 8 am, with the Run starting at 10 am. The CIBC Run for the Cure is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s largest signature, volunteer-led, fundraising event where 120,000 participants will run or walk at 62 sites across Canada in support of breast cancer research, health education and advocacy programs.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) invests in innovative and relevant breast cancer research that creates advancements in earlier detection, improved diagnosis and more effective treatment, all of which have helped to reduce mortality rates by 44 per cent since the 1980s. In fiscal 2014, CBCF invested $27 million to fund projects and programs focused on advancing our mission: $18.7 million was directed to breast cancer research and training grants while health education and advocacy initiatives accounted for $5 million. In 2014, there were 134 research projects and fellowships underway in Ontario working to make critical advancements in breast cancer research and care.
