All across this country, people are getting out to Vote in the 2015 Federal Election. Among those voting today is Gladys Burns, a senior citizen who lives in The Seniors Tower on Bay Street. Long time member and advocate for The NDP Party, both federally and provincially, Marlene Trussler has been volunteering to provide an outreach service to Seniors who would like to get out to vote, and require assistance to do so.
Saultonline was invited to drive along with Marlene today, Oct. 19th, 2015, as she ferried people like Gladys to the polling stations around Sault Ste. Marie. Marlene drove several seniors to the Advanced Polling stations over the Thanksgiving weekend. Today, Gladys voted at The Indian Friendship Centre on East Street.
Gladys is a hoot. Her gift for remembering jokes is nothing short of brilliant. Thank you Gladys and Marlene for letting saultonline tag along with you today. And thank you to Marlene Trussler and all of the other volunteer drivers out there, who share their time to support seniors in exercising their right to vote. Right on. Every vote counts.
