CDC’s Susan Milne recipient of the Chamber’s 2015 Athena Award

The Community Development Corporation of Sault Ste. Marie & Area (CDC) is proud to announce that Susan Milne, Self Employment Benefit Co-ordinator at the (CDC) was the recipient of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce’s “Athena” award.

The ATHENA Award is an internatioinally recognized award, presented to an individual who is recognized for their professional excellence, for providing valuable service to their community and for actively assisting women in attainment of their professional goals and leadership skills.

Ms. Milne was cited for her many community contributions and accomplishments which include over 25 years volunteering for many groups and organizations. Susan is a 16 year member of the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Parks and Recreation Committee, the Vice Chair of Pauline’s Place Youth and Women’s Shelter, a long time Master Gardener with the Algoma West Master Gardeners and was a feature gardening columnist with the Sault Star. She has participated in many fundraising campaigns including ARCH, The Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke, Canadian Diabetes Association and Algoma University Food Bank and was chosen as a Pam Am Torch Bearer for Sault Ste Marie in 2015.

Susan has been with the CDC for five years and worked with hundreds of clients assisting them on developing their small business ideas and helping to bring them to fruition and success.

“Susan’s impressive record of community involvement makes this award well deserved” says Dan Fryia, the CDC’s Executive Director. “We are proud to have her as part of our team”.
