Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District Crime Stoppers wrapped up their Great Algoma Lock Up fundraiser on Saturday, October 31st, in the Station Mall at Sears Court.
In exchange for a donation, businesses and service groups within Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District surprised their boss or fellow employees by having one of their own team members locked up on humorous charges.
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police lent their officers to Crime Stoppers for the day to round up the “inmates”. As a result of the Great Algoma Lock Up, 24 people were arrested over the three-day event. Officers arrived at the participating locations complete with uniforms, guns, handcuffs, patrol lights, and sirens sounding.
