John Duke will be running in the Ward 2 race after all. Duke, who ran in the last municipal election failed to submit his election expenses on time and was barred from running for an elected seat. However, Duke who appeared before council three weeks ago explained it was an oversight, filing 2 hours late.
Today, after appearing before a Judge, Duke was given the green light to throw his name into the ring for the vacant ward 2 seat left by Terry Sheehan, who won the Sault Ste. Marie riding in the October 19 federal election.
Duke joins four others in the race including Jody Curran who held the ward 2 council seat for several years. Ron Schinners, Susan Milne and David Poluck are also contenders as of today.
Duke will issue a statement later today.
Nominations will be accepted at the City Clerk’s office, Level 4, Civic Centre (99 Foster Drive), during regular office hours until 2 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015
