On a delayed penalty call against the Soo Eagles, Ted Davis would get a feed from Bryce Campbell and Justin Phillips to put the Blind River Beavers up by one at 5:41 of the first period.
Landon Hubbard would even the score for the Eagles on a power play at 8:44 from Gord Helmuth and Levi Rowan.
Blind River couldn’t clear the puck from their end which gave the opportunity for Eagles to take the lead on a goal by Jake Saxton at 10:50.
Max Khull would tie the game at two for the Beavers on a pass out front from Joseph Eben and Steven Khull at 15:55.
Alex DiBacco would again put the Eagles back into the lead on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle at 18:26.
With Roman Gaudet wide open on the right side of the Beavers’ net, Gaudet would slip the puck past Martin Miloslavich to put the Eagles up by two
Joseph Eben would put the Beavers within one on a big rebound from Eagles’ net minder Cam Bruggabe at 4:13. The game winning goal would come from Evan Ketner with only 6 seconds left in the second period to make the score 5 to 3 for the Eagles.
With no scoring in the third frame, Blind River would pull Miloslavich to give them a two man advantage with Eagles’ Levi Rowan in the penalty box for elbowing at 17:55.
The Eagles would come close twice at scoring on the empty net but despite a lot of pressure by the Beavers they couldn’t close the gap.
Bruggrabe would make 27 saves on 30 shots on goal while Miloslavich would make 47 saves on 52 shots.
Next home action for the Eagles is on 21 Nov when the Soo Thunderbirds make the trip across the bridge.
