After killing off a five minute major for Highsticking to Gord Helmuth, the Eagles were off to good start in the matchup between the visiting Elliot Lake Wildcats.
Jacob Hernandez would get the first goal of the game at 12:08 of the first period to put the Eagles up by one but Elliot Lake would tie the game at 19:42 of the period on a goal by Ty Hannaford.
The second period, the Wildcats put a lot of pressure on the Eagles by putting a total of 24 shots on Eagles net minder Bruggrabe, who stopped all shots except for one when Connor would put the Wildcats up by one by the end of the second period.
Elliot Lake’s line of Cole Hepler, Spencer MacLean and Chad Lopez would count for a total of 4 goals in the third period. Hepler would net two goals at the start with the first at 2:28 which was unassisted and the second at 4:24 with assists by MacLean and Lopez.
MacLean would net the last two goals of the game for Elliot Lake at 8:53 and 14:54 with both goals assisted by Hepler and Lopez.
The Wildcats had a total of 48 shots on goal while the Eagles were held to only 21.
The Eagles will be making the trip across the bridge to take on the Soo Thunderbirds at the Essar Centre on Sunday with game time at 7:30 pm.
Next home action for the Eagles is 11 December when the Powassan Voodoos come to Pullar Stadium.
