A donation from United Steelworkers Local 2724 to the Sault Ste. Marie Veteran’s Commemorative Monument (VCM) will mark another step ahead to construction of the project in Rowswell Park near the riverfront. The donation will be made this afternoon.
USW Local 2724 represents supervisory and technical staff at Sault Ste. Marie’s Essar Steel.
VCM Committee Chairman Clyde Healey will attend to accept the contribution.
The VCM project is designed to recognize all men and women who have volunteered to serve with the Canadian, Allied and NATO Armed Forces. The structure and bricks purchased for individuals will provide a formal and lasting tribute to those who served and are serving in Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.
