Rod Aubertin:

The Soo Eagles jumped out to a quick lead scoring three goals in just over five minutes of the first period.

Gregory Reed would score at the 1:36 mark and then Jake Saxton would add the second marker at 2:45. While playing short-handed the Eagles would get a two man break and Reed would get his second goal of the game at 5:01 which was two seconds after Chris Skinner would get out of the penalty box.

Before the close of the first period Blind River would get on the scoreboard with a goal by Alex Daija on a pass from Jason Uhl to pull the Beavers within two.

In a carry-over of a five minute Checking from Behind penalty to the Eagles in the first period, Blind River had a hard time getting the power play going, but
managed to close the gap as Joel Fedeski would score for the Beavers at the 2:18 mark of the second period to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Eagles.

Gord Helmuth, Alex DiBacco and Roman Gaudet would round out the scoring for the Eagles before the end of the second period to give the Eagles a 6 to 2 lead.

At the start of the third period Blind River would have two in the penalty box but killed off the 5 on 3 advantage but the Eagles would add four more goals before the end of the game by Bradley Hofelich, Nate Harris, Dayton Honkanen and Chris Skinner.

Next action for the Eagles is Saturday at 7:00 pm when the Elliot Lake Wildcats make the trip across the border.
