Dufour eyes Ward 2 seat


A new candidate has entered the race in the upcoming city council by-election. Luke Dufour officially filed his nomination papers on Thursday, December 17th 2015 to run as a candidate in Ward 2.

“I’m excited by this opportunity to be a strong voice for Ward 2 and to be a leader on city council,” said Dufour. “Now more than ever, our city needs to be forward thinking, with fresh ideas and a new approach to solving problems. I’m ready to work hard and dedicate my energy to moving the city forward.”

lukeLuke Dufour has been actively involved in the community. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the SSM Public Library, the Algoma Fall Festival and is a volunteer at St Vincent’s Place.

Dufour’s campaign will focus on addressing key issues facing the community: youth out-migration, low taxes, and quality infrastructure. “I believe that Sault Ste. Marie has a lot to offer,” says Dufour “and we need to make strategic decisions that make us an attractive place for business and an affordable community to live in,”.

An Algoma University graduate, Dufour was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, choosing to return here to be close to his family and to manage JL Builders, a local small business.
