A St. Mary’s College (SMC) alumnus who has given back for decades has given more to the As ONE Campaign.
Joe Maione, owner-operator of Maione Collectables, has co-sponsored the Gallery in the Mount St. Joseph wing, just down the hall from the main school entrance, and a business classroom in the St. Basil wing of the new SMC.
“My sisters attended the Mount, my brother and I St. Mary’s, and currently my niece is in Grade 12 at SMC, so we have a strong family experience and connection to the school. I have been a supporter to the alumni and SMC since 2005 and have many friends among the teachers, retirees, school volunteers, and coaches. I also hold many fond memories of Fr. Labute, Fr. Megan, Fr. Walker and Fr. Higgins. To this day, I maintain strong ties with former teachers Loris Pecile, Harvey Barsanti, and Bob Barbeau. They, along with the late Ray Barsanti, hold a special place in my heart,” said Maione.
Maione, an SMC alumnus, has been a long-time supporter of his former school. Over the years, through Maione Collectables, he has donated hundreds of items for auction. Proceeds from those items have gone toward scholarships and other community events supported by the SMC Alumni Association.
“Joe has been a friend of St. Mary’s College for years. His generosity is greatly appreciated. He is a terrific example of someone who lives the SMC motto,” said Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board Director of Education, John Stadnyk.
Mr. Maione’s support for his former school was also on display with Maione Collectables being one of the Bronze Sponsors of the recent As ONE Gala.
