In the league opener of High School Girls’ Volleyball action the Superior Heights SteelHawks and the St. Mary’s Knights were the winners.
In the Juniors, Superior Heights defeated White Pines 25 to 4 and 25 to 9. The Senior SteelHawks took down the Wolverines 25 to 18 and 25 to 13.
In other volleyball action the Junior Colts fell to the Knights 25 to 13 and 25 to 17. It took some extra time for the Knights to take down the Colts in the first Senior game with a score of 30 to 28 and in the second game St. Mary’s slipped by Korah 25 to 23.
In Boys’ Basketball action the White Pines Wolverines played host to the Superior Heights SteelHawks.
The Junior Wolverines took an early lead to take down the SteelHawks by a score of 41 to 19. Jake Rushon had 10 points while Kyle Foster had 8 for the Wolverines.
In the Senior game Superior Heights had the lead at the half by a score of 23 to 16. The Wolverines started to hit the basket netting 16 points while holding the SteelHawks to only 10 in the third quarter. Rebounds were the main focus in the fourth quarter as the Wolverines picked up 15 more points while Superior Heights only managed 5 points and at the buzzer the Wolverines led by a score of 47 to 38.
Top scorers for White Pines were Isiah Graber with 22 and Lucas Higham with 16 while Andrew O’Brien netted 15 and Justin Cond had 10 for Superior Heights.
The St. Mary’s Knights hosted the Korah Colts in Junior and Senior Basketball. The Junior Knights took the win by a score of 32 to 23. Cole Evans had 10 with Aaron Bossio and David Pedatella each having 6. B. Mitchell had 6 and J. Grisdale had 5 for Korah.
Korah Seniors slipped by the Knights by a score of 49 to 45. Jadon Fogg had 14 points while Tevon Williams had 12 for the Colts and Dexter Holden sank the ball for 12 and Noah Creedon had 10 points for the Knights.
