On Sunday, January 17th from 1:00-3:00 pm, Algoma Family Services (AFS) will be hosting the first Winter Wonderland Public Skate at the Essar Centre.
Admission is free for all ages.
During this exciting event, AFS and community partners will have information booths on services and programs set up around the Essar Centre. The event is intended to raise community awareness of the services available in Algoma to promote mental health and wellness.
“The Winter Wonderland Public Skate is a fantastic free opportunity for children, youth, adults and families to participate in some good ole family fun while also having the opportunity to learn about AFS services and that of our community partners.” Ali Juma, CEO Algoma Family Services.
The event is part of an AFS community engagement strategy to hear what the community has to say about our services, and also to learn what the community knows about our services.
Algoma Family Services Foundation is also partnering with AFS and generously providing hot chocolate during the event.
AFS will also be hosting a Winter Wonderland Public Skate in both District locations, Wawa and Elliot Lake, on January 17th. The public skate in Wawa will take place at the Wawa Community Centre from 1:00-3:00 pm and at the Centennial Arena from 12:30-2:30 pm in Elliot Lake. All community members and surrounding communities are welcomed to attend these events. Information regarding the attendance of mental health and wellness partners in District locations during this event is currently pending.
If any partners in Sault Ste. Marie would like to participate in this event, please contact Tiana Bugyra at 705-945-5050 ext. 2671 by 12:00 pm on January 8th.
