Alvin Bell (Sonny) passed away peacefully in Sault Sainte Marie Ont., On Wednesday, January 20th 2016.
He was 78 years old. Waiting to greet him in heaven are his loving parents Alvin and Mary Bell and his siblings Roy Bell (in infancy), Mildred Gammon, Alvina Crompton, Rose Parks, Patricia Jones and Hilda Cormier.
He was the beloved husband of Dawne Bell. Lovingly remember by his daughters Valerie Whitchurch (Gordon) of California and Erica Miller (Steve) of California. Very proud Grandfather to Joseph Whitchurch, Sharayah Durham and Jacob Miller. Great Papa to Erich Bell , Austin Durham and Jackson Durham. Adored by his surviving sisters Beverley Tarini and Shirley Sholdice. He will also be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews and his faithful companion to the end Miss Josephine.
Al (Sonny) was the jokester of his family known for his crazy pranks. He will always be remembered for his generous heart, kindness to everyone and his sense of humor. He was happiest when he was helping others and always left the room filled with laughter.
His family would like to thank all the people who filled his life with love, especially, Barbara Zimmer, Victor and Mary-Jane Perry, Linda Rackham and Darlene Monchka Hill, Dawne’s family (Jan,Linda,Lance,and Greg), his nurses Carly(or Karl as he called her), the nurses and staff at Pathways and the nurses at the Sault Area Hospital.
There are many others we may have missed, but were a big part of his life and we thank you. Al was a lifelong volunteer to many organizations, Canadian Blood Association, The Canadian Cancer Society, Red Cross, Girl Guides and Children’s organizations to name a few.
The family asks that you give your gift of time or a charitable donation directly to one of the many organizations he supported.
As per Al’s request there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
A celebration of his life will be held in early summer.
