Snowarama for Easter Seals Kids 2016 is almost here! On Saturday, January 30, snowmobilers from all over the Sault and area will gather together for a day on the trails – and you can join them. Download a pledge form from www.snowarama.org to begin raising money for children with physical disabilities in the community. All riders who bring in $150 or more in pledges will receive a free breakfast, free lunch, gas top-up, and a day trail pass.
Easter Seals Ambassador, Ben MacDonald, will be joining us again. Here is what he has to say:
“Last year’s event had an amazing turnout, with countless folks donating their time and resources to participate in a cause benefiting people they may not even know. Last year’s Snowarama was also unexpectedly and extremely successful, raising over $40,000 in just a single day. So, thank you to each and every participant for your dedication to this cause – you guys truly make a difference.
I hope that this year we will have even more participants and beat our record from last year. I look forward to seeing you all there and hopefully some new faces as well!”
Easter Seals Ontario began in 1922 as a vision to create a better life for children and youth with physical disabilities. Programs include financial assistance to help families purchase costly mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and communication devices, as well as fully accessible summer camps, and information resources for parents and caregivers.
Of the families who requested financial assistance from Easter Seals and self-reported their annual income in 2015, 64% reported a total family income under $60,000. In addition, 48% of families had a total annual household income under $40,000; and 28% had a total family income under $20,000.
Easter Seals programs and services are funded almost entirely through donations by individuals, sponsors and foundations. Thanks to our generous donors, we continue to offer programs that allow kids to experience freedom, independence and a sense of accomplishment.
