Celebrating 60 Years of Nordic Ski Racing at Hiawatha Highlands, HIAWATHA SNOWFEST is being hosted by the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club in collaboration with the Sault Cycling Club. This event-filled weekend January 23-24, 2016 welcomes public participation at Hiawatha Highlands, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in some entertaining and snow-filled activities.
HIAWATHA SNOWFEST participants can get involved in both competitive and fun events for all ages and abilities in cross country skiing, fat biking and snowshoeing. Events include “Skirabble Ski-ramble”, a Scrabble themed competition on skis, fat bikes or snowshoes, an interval start ski race, a Cyclo-cross style fat bike race and a ski and fat bike loppet.
There is also a Beer tent and BBQ onsite, a Pasta Dinner with awards for the events, and a Finnish pancake breakfast. “We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate the snow and the beautiful winter location that Hiawatha Highlands offers” says Melba Kinnunen, Honorary

Grab refreshment at our café and browse through a museum of photos, news articles, and memorabilia commemorating the history of the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club on-site. Sunday’s events include a Finnish pancake breakfast open to the public at the Conservation Authority Sugar Shack and a cross country ski and fat bike loppet on a new course, specially
designed for this event.
