Drive While Under Suspension


On January 28, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Village Road, in the territory of Mississauga First Nation near the town of Blind River.

At 10:45 a.m., police observed a suspicious vehicle being driven by a lone male travelling southbound on Village Road. A traffic stop was initiated on Woodward Avenue in the town Blind River.

As a result of the investigation, Derek MORNINGSTAR, 46 years of age, from Mississauga First Nation was charged with: Drive While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River On March 2, 2016.
