With a five game winning streak the Soo Eagles looked to make it six straight when the Elliot Lake Gold Miners, who had a seven game win streak to keep, paid a visit to the Pullar Stadium.
There was no scoring or penalties in the first period and the shots on goal were pretty much even with the Eagles having 9 and the Gold Miners with 12.
Kirkland Lake would explode in the second frame scoring a total of six goals in the span of 12 minutes with Logan Fredericks getting a hat trick. Marc-Antione Arseneau would get a power play goal and Dylan Holt and Alexander Hester would add one each.
Sam Rappaport would get the lone goal for the Soo Eagles on a feed from Jacob Palmerio and Bradley Hofelich at 17:31.
The third period seen Jack Deines replace Eagles net minder Cam Bruggrabe. Deines would stop all nine shots from the Gold Miners while Tyler Mazzocato would stop 24 of the 25 shots by the Eagles.
Next action for the Soo Eagles is Saturday when the 5th place overall Elliot Lake Wildcats make the trek across the International Bridge.
