Hounds host “Hockey Fights Cancer”


The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is pleased and honoured to announce they will be holding this years “Hockey Fights Cancer” event on Friday, February 12 when they host the Owen Sound Attack. Game time is 7:07 p.m.

This year’s event will be the 6th consecutive year the club has held the game day initiative and will be looking to improve upon last year’s $19,000 raised.

For the 2016 event, the Greyhounds have teamed up with the Algoma Residental Community Hospice (ARCH) and ALL proceeds raised will go to the local facility for their Pediatrics Ward and Wishes Program.

Fans can contribute to the Hockey Fights Cancer event a number of ways:

  • Blind Auction of the Hounds game-worn, limited edition, jerseys from this game
    In-Arena auction begins on Wednesday, February 10th (vs Sarnia Sting) and runs through
    Friday, February 12th at the conclusion of the 1st Intermission. Online bidding is available on the event page located under the GAME DAY tab of soogreyhounds.com. Online bidding will close on Thursday, February 11th at 5 p.m. NO BIDS WILL BE POSTED THEREFORE IT IS RECOMMEND FANS SUBMIT THEIR LARGEST BID FOR THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN. Each winner will go on the ice and the player will present and autograph the jersey for the
    winner following the game.

  • “Buckets of Love” Pass the bucket will be passed through the Essar Centre during the 1st

  • Chuck-A-Puck

  • Limited special edition “Hockey Fights Cancer” T-Shirts and Hats are available at the Hound. Pound NOW – $5 from every t-shirt go towards the fundraising campaign.

In addition to the fundraising activities surrounding this year’s event, the Greyhounds are pleased to add they will be joining the many hockey teams and organizations in our community and will be wearing “Taten’s Warriors” stickers on the helmets this night, and the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
