It would seem that the game would come down to the wire but a burst of goals late in the third period cinched the win for the Greyhounds.
Garrett McFadden would put the Guelph Storm up by one on a power play goal at 8:37 of the first period, but Morgan Frost would tie the game for the Greyhounds before the close of the period.
Zach Senyshyn, who was all alone, would get a feed from the back of the net from Boris Katchouk to put the Hounds up by one to lead the Storm 2 to 1 at the end of the second period.
A late surge by the Soo would add two more goals in the third period with Jack Kopacka deflecting Medric Mercier’s shot from the blue line past Guelph’s net minder Van Schubert. Tim Gettinger would add a little more insurance to the Greyhound lead to give a final score of 4 to 1.
Boris Katchouk, a former Soo Thunderbirds player, sits in the fourth position of Rookie points added two more assists to his tally for a total of 35 points consisting of 14 goals and 21 assists.
Jack Kopacka currently holds the 14th position in Rookie points increased his point total to 24 with 11 goals, one for the night against the Storm, and 13 assists.
