Lack of snow postpones Snowarama

Due to poor snow conditions, organizers for the Snowarama for Easter Seals Kids in Sault Ste. Marie have decided to postpone the event. Originally scheduled for January 30, the new date is Saturday, February 27.

“We are disappointed that Mother Nature has not cooperated with our event this year. The upside is that the trails will be much nicer four weeks from now and it gives our riders four more weeks to collect pledges. Remember, it’s all about the kids!” reminds Landon Odom, Co-Chair.

“The Sault Trailblazer volunteers continue work towards opening the trails to make it safe for all riders including the participants of Snowarama. Postponing Snowarama will allow us to improve the trails to make it an enjoyable ride for the event,” says Darrell Maahs, past President of The Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club.

Due to the date change, the location of registration and breakfast is to be determined. Riders who raise $150 or more will receive breakfast, lunch, a trail pass and a maximum of $25 top up of gas. Riders also receive ballots for a local business prize draw.

“There are over 40 children in Sault Ste. Marie who require the assistance of Easter Seals. Snowarama is an important part of the local fundraising. The children and their families really appreciate the assistance of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie and Sault Trailblazer volunteers in making this event a success. We are appealing to riders to take the extra month delay to obtain additional pledges and make this Snowarama a record year!

Those interested in participating can pick up pledge forms at snow machine dealers in the city, at the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie office, or download them from For more information, please contact the Rotary Club office, 705-945-1279.
