On January 22, 2016 Thomas Chevrier age 18 turned himself in at the City Police Service regarding an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.  Chevrier is now scheduled to appear in court in answer to the charge on February 29, 2016 at 9:00 am.

Ontario Provincial Police

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On January 21, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Causley Street, in the town of Blind River.

At 4:21 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle on Causley Street and detected a radar device in that vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated.  As a result of the investigation police seized the radar device.

Kenneth DICKSON, 30 years of age, from Calgary, Alberta, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Speed Measuring Warning Device, contrary to section 79(2) of the Highway Act.

(IRON BRIDGE, ON)- On January 21, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting snowmobile patrol in the town of Iron Bridge.

At 6:07 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Chiblow Lake Road with no licence plates.  A traffic stop was initiated and the investigation revealed the vehicle was not insured.

Billy-Joe SAYERS, 19 years of age, from Iron Bridge, was charged with:

  • Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway-No Insurance, contrary to section2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act; and
  • Drive Motor Vehicle-No Plates, contrary to section 7(1)(b)(i) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River On March 2, 2016.
