Sault Minor Hockey Accepting 2016/17 Coaching Applications

Sault Minor Hockey, which has operated youth rep hockey in Sault Ste Marie since 1986, is now accepting applications for the head coaching positions for the Pee Wee AAA, Pee Wee AA and Atom AA Jr. Greyhound teams.

Sault Minor Hockey teams compete in various leagues such as the Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League, Little Caesar’s Amateur Hockey League and the Northern International Hockey League. As part of the Hockey Canada umbrella the Jr. Greyhound teams compete against some of the top teams on Ontario and the United States.

Sault Minor Hockey is a successful and proven hockey program that has provided the foundation for the majority of Sault Ste Marie’s best hockey players for the past 30 years. Sault Minor Hockey is proud of the fact that in the past 4 years we have help to develop players who are currently playing in the OHL, with two players named captains of their respective teams. Presently there are Sault Minor Hockey alumni playing for or committed to NCAA division 1 schools. There are many others playing at the Jr. A level throughout the province or choose to become standouts in our city high school hockey league.

In the 29 years Sault Minor Hockey has operated, we are extremely proud of the hundreds of respected and successful young alumni men and women Sault Minor has helped to develop. Sault Minor Hockey, more importantly than hockey skills, emphasises the life skills such as respect, cooperation, dedication, time management and responsibility to help our players go on to be successful in life. Our alumni have successfully gone on to run local businesses, become NHL players, assistant NHL GM’s, police officers, teachers, accountants just to name a few. The list is too long to list every success story we have helped to produce.

If you are interested in helping to shape the future of youth on and off the ice please go to to apply. The deadline for coaching applications is Jan 31, 2016.
Player registration for our 2016/17 Jr. Greyhound season will be opening soon. We look forward to seeing next year’s players extremely proud to be wearing the red and white Jr. Greyhound jersey while representing Sault Ste Marie all over Ontario and the United States.
