Snowy plate leads to arrest

On January 12, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Causley Street in the town of Blind River.

At 8:50 a.m., police observed two vehicles with their rear licence plates obscured by snow. A traffic stop was initiated on Causley Street. As a result of the stop, it was determined that both vehicles were travelling together.

Dylan ALLEN, 24 years of age, from Edmonton, Alberta, was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (X2), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a Recognizance is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on April 14, 2016.

Police spoke with the driver of the second vehicle and found him to be suspended. As a result of the investigation, Brandon MCCORMICK, 25 years of age, from Edmonton, Alberta was charged with: Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on April 6, 2016.
