Team Lemieux from St. Mary’s is the league champion of the Boys’ division. The team, made up of Skip Nick Lemieux, with Jacob Reid, Andrew Berg and Taylor Longo defeated Superior Heights by a score of 9-0. Superior Heights is skipped by Michael Masters along with James Mesich, Nathan Erkkila and Devin Moore. Both teams were previously undefeated before today’s game. Today’s action saw two blank ends to start the game before St. Mary’s blew open the scoring with 5 points in the third end and a steal of 4 points in the fourth end.
These two teams, along with Notre Dame du Sault who finished league play with a record of 3-3, will play in a Page Play-off for the City Championship on Saturday at the Community First Curling Centre.
Team Soulliere from White Pines, Team Palarchio from St. Marys and Team Colosimo, also from St. Marys, all finished with a record of 2-4. They will play a series of tie-breakers games on Friday, The winner will advance to the Championship Round and the other two teams will join Korah in the Consolation Round.
Team McLean from Superior Heights is the league champion of the Girls’ division with a league record of 2-1. The team is made up of Catherine Mesich, Emma McLean, Erin McLean and Madeline Coutu. In Thursday’s action they were defeated by Korah. These two teams will face off in a best of three series in the City Championships on Saturday.
Both the boys’ and girls’ league winners along with the city champions will advance to the NOSSA Curling Championships being hosted here in the Soo at the Community First Curling Centre on February 23-24.
