This story begins the morning of April 30th, 2013 when little Logan Hunter Agawa who is now 6 years old, woke up with a large lump on the side of his neck. After 5 weeks of testing to determine what the lump was, Logan and his family travelled to Toronto. While there Logan had a bone marrow test and was diagnosed with leukemia.
Since then, Logan has had over 200 chemo treatments and takes chemo medication. Logan takes many kinds of medication daily and much of it is not covered by OHIP. He has to go to Sudbury and Toronto on a regular basis for treatments and check ups. Logan also drinks alkaline water because tap water and bottle water contains higher PH and lower sodium levels that may cause him harm.
Logan goes to Northern Heights Public School, and The Parent Council of the School wanted to do something for him and his family to help them out with some medical expenses.
The Parent Council, comprised of myself as Chair, Co-Chair Sharon Hunt, Secretary Julie Strachan along with members Jessi Matthews, Sarah Lato, Principal Marg Dodds and Vice-Principal Sue Flammia organized a fundraising bingo held last night at The Rankin Arena.
The Parent Council spent many days canvasing prizes for the raffles and the bingo. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the businesses that provided a donation.
Logan was one little happy boy last night who had so much fun at the bingo running around with his buddies and even pulling the winning names from the raffle draws.
Many Teachers and Parents helped out the days leading up too and also at of the bingo.
Today Logan and his Mom Tracy were presented over $1500 in cash by myself as Parent Council Chair and Principal Marg Dodds in Logan’s Class with his Teacher Joyce Nelles. You are one special little boy and Logan…. We Believe in You!
